A BRITISH man has died after being pulled unconscious from the swimming pool of a Tenerife hotel.
Holidaymakers looked on in horror as medics tried to revive him but without success.
A spokesman from the 112 emergency service said the man had drowned. An autopsy is being held to confirm the cause of his death.
The tragedy happened today at an hotel in the tourist resort of Costa Adeje in the south of the island.
Police and medics were called to the hotel in calle Londres just before 1.25pm.
The 112 spokesman said: “A call was made asking for help for a man who was in cardiorespiratory arrest after being rescued from the water in the pool of a hotel in the area mentioned above. According to the person who raised the alert, a doctor who happened to be there had begun to perform resuscitation.

“When emergency medics arrived, they continued with basic and advanced techniques but without success and the man was declared dead at the scene.”
The man’s nationality was confirmed as British. He was 79 years of age but no further details have been given.
National police have taken charge of the subsequent investigation to determine exactly what happened.
